Great places to work when you don’t feel like hitting the office

Look, we’ve all been there. Your alarm is ringing, it’s 6:30 am but your body just isn’t responding. The thought of another day in the office feels like a psychical and mental form of torture. Your back is sore from those damn chairs, your eyes tired from staring at the same white walls, and your mind has become a strange and quiet place, absent of all thought and creativity.
If you’re one of the lucky ones who can choose where you get to work from, boy, do we have some news for you! Here at O&B, we get that hitting the office can feel like a chore which is why we’ve created this list of spaces and places you can head to when you simply can’t face the office. It’s okay, you can thank us later…

James Street

James Street in New Farm is a hub for all things grand. Brisbane City Council provides free Wi-Fi to the street and there are plenty of spaces, café’s, and restaurants to pick from! The hardest part? Deciding where to park yourself, of course.

Brisbane City Council Libraries

Spaces like the State Library of Queensland and the Brisbane Square Library provide free Wi-Fi as well as studios and spaces (with some pretty good views) when you need a place to study or work. If you’re lucky, they might be free but your best bet is to book ahead. Of course, there are plenty of other spaces, desks, and areas within these buildings that are made for all things work.

Co-Working Spaces

With the ever-changing and expanding realm of business has come a new wave of offices. Co-working spaces like The Coterie in Kelvin Grove, Lightspace in Fortitude Valley, and Gravity in Brisbane’s CBD have been popping up everywhere. Simply purchase a membership, rent a space, or become a member to utilise these funky, new and improved spaces; filled with all sorts of goodies to make your day just that little bit easier. Whether it’s a café, dry-cleaner, or bar (we won’t tell anyone) you need, these co-working spaces have you covered

The Outdoors

When it comes to creatives, we all know that heading out into the fresh air does wonders for the soul. In Brisbane, we are almost spoilt for choice when selecting an outdoor office. Whether it’s New Farm Park, Southbank Parklands, or even the Botanical Gardens on Mount Coot-tha, you can enjoy free wi-fi thanks to the Brisbane City Council while surrounded by Brisbane’s natural beauty.

Cafés

This one is a no-brainer, really. Here in Bris-vegas, we love a good coffee and we also love a good brunch. With so many cafes offering free wi-fi now, they become the perfect make-shift office, especially if you’re really craving that morning brew. Some of our favourite work-friendly cafés include Kin + Co in Teneriffe, Sassafras in Paddington, Café Etto in Fortitude Valley, and Brew in the Brisbane CBD. (OR WHEREEVER YOU WANT TO PROMOTE).
